1) Wise choise, though you may wish to reserve some condition like “This violates the Yith version of the Prime Directive” or some such–which may or may not be violated after some intense Yith-variant soul searching, causing any number of plot complications along the way.
2) Yithro, define “weird.” Compared to what? A Yith wearing/inhabiting a human body? Dating a human in 1912 terms? (I know there’s more but my coffee hasn’t sit the magic spot yet.)
To paraphrase one of my favorite, saltier bloggers, “Do your work, show your research.”
Oh, you can use shoggoths to do anything. Of course, the more contact you have with one, the more shoggoth material “accidently’ sloughs off and finds it way into your body where it slowly inhabits your body, influencing your thoughts and sleepwalking you about at night. After all, they can do anything. Anything they want.
