I am a dog person and you have captured the total relaxation of a dog in repose perfectly. I am also a cat person…in fact I love all animals…except sheep for some reason???
You have really immersed yourself in that time period, this humor would have been understood then. Have you read any classic cartoons from that time, like the Katsen Jammer Kids?
It has been a while since I cracked my Smithsonian Book of Newspaper Comics, but I have read some Katzenjammer Kids and the Yellow Kid. Little Nemo in Slumberland is my favorite.
Some of my early attempts at writing a script for the animated version of this used a lot more period slang and idiom, but it doesn’t work as well for a modern audience.
