That word in the original German, by the way, would be Naturwesenhass, which sadly sounds too benign to be a Lovecraftian tome in its own right.

Most spells of banishment involve working from within a protective pentangle. You can see the problem.
Yep. Depending on how the pentangle is drawn, there are at LEAST 5 acute angles and that’s just counting the tips of the star, let alone the internal crossings. Hmmm, salt (with a liberal blend of diatomaceous earth) in a circle, anyone?
Unfortunately, that’s intended to trap spirits. The Hounds are real creatures, albeit multidimensional. The only official way to deal with them is what Kurt said; wait them out, hiding in an enclosed curved space.

maybe they could make the figure out of all reflex angles, which would put them actually OUTSIDE the figure while still being inside it… wait, I think that would only work in a dimension higher than our own…..
