I must confess I have never heard of the Black Tome of Alsophocus either. Hopefully von Junzt copied the spell right. And a sacrifice is optional.
It’s from one of the posthumously-finished tales of HPL. I never heard of it either.
Oh, and the encyclopedia is a wonderful, wonderful thing.
